Our Northern Adventure

Our Northern Adventure

Sunday, January 30, 2011

Last Sunday began a busy week for us. My parents drove over from Alabama to spend the weekend with me and Kaleb while Kevin was at Rock Eagle with all the guys to hear Mark Rutland preach. Mom and I had some great girl shopping time while dad and Kaleb bought Hot Wheels and tools.

That evening, we gathered with a group of our friends at The Red Barn Farm as they commissioned us for our journey North. We are so blessed to have so many friends who know we aren't moving to Ohio just because of a job move but because God has called us to something much bigger. We do not know at this time what that "job" is but are willing vessels to do what He wants us to do. Chris Tomlin's song "I Will Follow You" seems appropriate for this time in our lives. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zx_04LdPV_Q

Dinner time

After dinner, about 30 of our brothers and sisters in Christ joined around us to pray and bless our family as we begin our journey. What a sweet evening of sweet blessings written from the heart. We love all of you and know you will be praying for us each and every day. As Kevin and I left that evening, how appropriate it was that the sign leaving the farm said "Until We Meet Again".

Snow Day 2011

Happy Snow Day 2011! We woke up this morning to about an inch of icy snow that was not good for building a snowman but definitely good for sledding down the driveway in. Kaleb got a snowsuit and sled from PaPa and Nannie for his birthday in preparation for our move to Ohio. Little did we know we would get to test it out before our big move.

Kaleb got lots of practice with his new sled today.

We then came inside and enjoyed some hot chocolate and homemade chocolate chip cookies. I even made some with Andes Mint Chips in them this time. WOW...they are good.

Cookie Baking

Kevin is definitely the cook in our house...thank goodness...but I do LOVE to bake when I have the time. Kaleb and I decided to bake come chocolate chip cookies last weekend with a recipe from a dear friend. I have not baked these in a while so I was very impressed that I timed them just right to come out of the oven before they browned on the bottom. Some of you were even able to get taste test of our cookies and LOVED them!
Mixing in the chips...and he didn't eat any of them!

Spooning out the cookies for the pan.

Cookies are ready for the oven
 YUMMY...they smell so good!
